Roy Parks, 68, of Thornton, passed away, Monday, April 14, 2025, while surrounded by loved ones in his home. Memorial service will be held, 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, at Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Thornton. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Thornton. Visitation will be 10:30 – 12:30 at the funeral home on Friday.
Roy Linn Parks was born in Hampton, Iowa, a son of Edward and Dorothy (Oltman) Parks. He graduated from CAL High School. He was married and raised two daughters: Jori and LeAnn. Later he married Sandi Mitchell and welcomed 2 stepchildren into his family, Steven & ShyAnne Westerman.
Roy worked as a Custom Applicator for Farm Services, based in Thornton, for 27 years. He did every job at FS and loved being in the field and ended his career as manager of the Thornton office. He had been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Latimer. Roy loved to golf and travel and play at many different courses. He loved to camp at various campgrounds with family and friends until he finally found his happy place camping at the Happy Time Resort. His favorite place was out in the middle of the Ocean cruising to Jamacia and the Bahamas and spending time with his family.
Family members include his wife of 21 years, Sandi; daughters: Jori ( Matt) Showalter, Hampton; LeAnn (Shane) Braun, Latimer; stepchildren: Steven Westerman, Colorado; ShyAnne Westerman, Mason City; grandchildren: Cade Parks, Toby Braun, Jack Showalter, Emma Showalter, Charlie Showalter, Luke Showalter, Cecil Sprung, Osiris Westerman, Slayder Winfrey, Zayma Winfrey; brother: Larry (Anita) Parks, Latimer; Lois Pals, Mason City.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and brother Rex Parks.
