MASON CITY — State Representative Christian Hermanson (R–Mason City) has been appointed by House leadership to serve on the Statewide Fire and Police Retirement System (MFPRSI) Board of Trustees, which oversees the retirement benefits of Iowa’s municipal police officers and firefighters.

“I’m honored to serve in this role and represent both Iowa taxpayers and the dedicated first responders who put their lives on the line to protect our communities,” said Rep. Hermanson.

“As a former police officer, I understand the deep commitment these men and women make to public service, and I’m committed to helping ensure their retirement system remains strong, transparent, and financially sound.”

The MFPRSI was established by the Iowa Legislature to provide retirement, disability, and death benefits to eligible police and fire personnel employed by participating cities across the state.

The Board of Trustees provides governance and fiduciary oversight for the system.

Rep. Hermanson’s term on the board runs through January 2027.

Hermanson currently serves as Vice Chair of the House Ways & Means Committee and is a member of the Public Safety, Veterans Affairs, Natural Resources, and Transportation
Appropriations Committees. He represents House District 59, which includes Mason City and surrounding areas in North Central Iowa.
