EMMET COUNTY – Two suspects were arrested and charged recently as the result of an investigation by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, the sheriff’s office received information from the Spencer Police Department on September 6, 2024, advising that they had received a report from a citizen that a person had attempted to sell some tools to this person in Spencer. Upon investigation by the sheriff’s office, it was determined that the property in question had been stolen from a farm building in eastern Emmet County.
Upon investigation and execution of search warrants, stolen tools, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were seized.
As a result, 48-year-old Curtis Lappegard (pictured at top) of Armstrong and 25-year-old Phillip Manz of Fairmont, Minnesota, were placed under arrest and charged.
Lappegard is charged with Burglary in the Third Degree (a class (D) felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Manz is charged with Burglary in the Third Degree (a class (D) felony), Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance (marijuana), Possession of Hemp for Inhalation and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The investigation continues into the incident and the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department.
