Douglas E. “Doug” Taylor, 69, of Mason City passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Manly Specialty Care Center, Manly, IA.

Services to honor his life are pending.

Douglas Eugene Taylor was born on September 6, 1954, in Livermore, CA, to Leslie and Darlene (Beard) Taylor. He attended Mineral County High School in Hawthorne, NV, before joining the United States Navy. Doug served his country for four years and received an honorable discharge in 1979. He worked for many years as a mechanic at European Auto Tech, where he indulged his love for working on sports cars and watching Formula One racing.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman, whether he was hunting, fishing in the early morning, or enjoying a smooth motorcycle ride. He never turned down a good game of pool and loved racing in video games as much as he did in real life. Most of all, Doug cherished his time with his family, which eventually led him to move to Iowa to be closer to them.

Surviving are his daughter, Miranda Taylor; bonus children, Jennifer (Chris) Donahoo and Charles Stout; grandchildren, Santos Najera, Grace Bethke, Misty (Ray Stricker) Stout, Alex Stout, Aiden Stout, Austin Stout, Harley Funk; great-granddaughter, Serenity Stricker; siblings, Brian Taylor and Sharon Williams; nieces and nephews, Sara (Duane) Zens, Kevin Williams, and Carrie Taylor; great nieces and nephews, Zoey Zens, Xavier Zens, Jordyn Taylor, Hunter O’Toole, Haley O’Toole, Xander Williams, Daedium Williams, and Wells Williams; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Darelne Taylor and Leslie Taylor; sister, Sharon Williams; and niece, Rebecca Williams.
