CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man convicted over and over of domestic abuse assault was caught drunk driving this weekend.
As NIT previously reported, 40-year-old Tyree Cranshaw of Charles City was arrested back in May of 2018 on a charge of domestic abuse assault involving strangulation. He was later convicted by a jury of two counts of domestic abuse assault involving strangulation. He was punished with four days in jail and ordered to pay the courts $2,123.01 in fines and fees.
Then in 2019, Cranshaw was arrested again for domestic abuse assault, again in Charles City. He pleaded guilty to assault and got another four days in jail and $115.00 in court costs. Records show that in 2021 and 2018, two different women filed in Iowa court for protection from Cranshaw in the form of a Petition for Relief from Domestic Abuse.
Cranshaw (pictured at top), also guilty in recent times of public intoxication, was the subject of a traffic stop in Charles City at 2:38 AM on June 30, in the 400 block of North Grand Avenue. After an investigation, Cranshaw was arrested for first-offense operating while intoxicated and jailed.
