Bruce A. de Buhr, 73, of Charles City, Iowa passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Bruce A. de Buhr, 73, of Charles City, Iowa passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A memorial service for Bruce de Buhr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Jonathan Dolan of Ames, Iowa (a friend of the family) officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be one hour before the service at the funeral home on Thursday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Retrieving Freedom, 1152 230th Street, Waverly, IA 50667 (a service dog organization for veterans and others in need) or to Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 South Main Street, Charles City, IA 50616.

Bruce A. de Buhr was born February 9, 1951 in Charles City, Iowa to William and Marjorie (Mooberry) de Buhr. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1969 and UNI in 1977 with an accounting degree. Bruce was employed with BAE (formerly FMC and then United Defense) for 34 years.

Living family members include his wife, Brenda (Kristiansen) de Buhr of 48 years; siblings: Louise Ott of Rockford and Larry (Gayle) de Buhr of Menomonee, Wisconsin; brothers-in-law: Bradley (Trisha) Kristiansen of Clearwater, Florida and Brian (Lisa) Kristiansen of Alburnett; along with many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marjorie de Buhr; parents-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Kristiansen; and sister, Beatrice Pennington.
