Iowa Attorney General Bird argues to appeal court to keep books banned in schools

St. PAUL, MN — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird argued to a federal court of appeals in Minnesota on Tuesday to keep banned certain books she doesn't like in Iowa schools.

St. PAUL, MN — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird argued to a federal court of appeals in Minnesota on Tuesday to keep banned certain books she doesn’t like in Iowa schools.

“The law keeps sexually explicit books out of schools and inappropriate lessons out of schools’ curriculums,” Bird’s office said in a statement. Bird continued by saying:

“Inappropriate books do not belong in the hands of school children. As a mom, I know how important it is for parents to have a say in what books and materials their kids have access to. Today, we made the case in court to defend Iowa’s law that protects kids, families, and parental rights. It is common sense.”

Right now, a federal law is blocking a law passed in the Iowa Legislature that bans books that right-wing conservative lawmakers passed. The appeals court could set the law into action, if they rule so.

Reportedly, up to 1000 books would be banned in schools if the law takes effect.

This stupid cow doesn’t have the IQ of a rodent. She’s going to get what deserves at the next election.

I am wondering what catastrophe will occur if those books she thinks are bad, are left in schools? What is the worst that can happen? If she is worried those books will fall into her children’s hands, I have to wonder when that will happen? They don’t have a lot of time at school to browse the library and if they do want a book, they have to check it out. If a parent doesn’t want them checking that book out, let the school know who will let the librarian know, who can then flag that child’s name and refuse to let them check it out;. If the parent isn’t responsible enough to let the school know, when the kid brings home the book, the parent can tell their child they don’t want them reading it. It is pretty damn simple, but the right wants to make culture wars out of everything.

Just buy your own book for your house and friends, maybe start a book club.

Why should I have to do that? A library should be for all readers, especially a public library.

You said it…should

You still haven’t answered my question. What catastrophe will happen in those books are left on the shelves?
