Terry W. Tackett, 86, of Nashville, TN, formerly of Garner, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele, Missouri.
Terry Weiland Tackett was born on October 15 1937 in Steele, Missouri to William and Inie Mae Farris Tackett. He grew up picking cotton and left to join the Air Force at 18 after graduating in 1956. Terry supported his family and never forgot the memories of Steele, his parents, siblings, and the life lessons his early years taught him. He was stationed at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas from 1956-1960. He married Delaine and was honored with the birth of his first child, a daughter named Cherise in 1963. Terry’s first job was parking cars at the Fremont in Las Vegas. He spent several years in that industry working at places like the Golden Nugget, The Fremont, and the Riveria Casinos, being front row to the creation of what is known as the Strip today. Terry moved to Nebraska, meeting his wife Linda marrying in 1969. Terry and Linda had three children, Tara, Eric and Aaron. The family moved to Iowa and New Mexico before they divorced. Throughout his life, Terry put 33 years of dedicated work to Enron, retiring when he was 62, living in Garner, Iowa for the majority of his life. Terry had 2 granddaughters, Lauren and Kelsey, who he had a great and supportive relationship with through humor and love. He later remarried Nina Lynn in 2003 after being introduced by a childhood friend. Nina and Terry grew up 3 miles from each other in Missouri and found each other later in life through love and partnership. Terry joined Nina’s loving family gaining 3 more grandchildren, Aiden, Knox, and Charlotte. Terry and Nina moved to Nashville where Terry spent the final years of his life, passing away on April 13, 2024.
He spent his time golfing whenever he could and watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinal baseball team. He loved spending time with all his family, dancing, doing Genealogy, and listening to George Jones. He will be missed by those who can still hear his laugh, see his foottap to music and feel his hugs.
Terry is survived by his wife Nina Tackett; children, Cherise (Dan) Gaydon, Tara (Jeff) Gunderson, Eric Tackett, Bryan (Anna) Lynn, Ginger (Mark); and his grandchildren, Lauren (Will), Kelsey, Aiden, Knox and Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Inie Mae; all 5 of his siblings, Bill, Tina, Shirley, Jenetta, and Darla; first wife Linda; and his cherished son, Aaron.
