Doris M. Eichmeier, 100, of Sheffield, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2024, at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Doris will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. Woodley Funeral Home of Sheffield is caring for Doris and her family.
Doris Maxine Eichmeier was born October 10, 1923, at home in Sheffield, to Arthur and Viola (Tuecke) Dittberner. She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1941 and continued her education at Wartburg College in Waverly. Doris worked as a country school teacher for four years.
On February 24, 1944, Doris was united in marriage to Louis Gilbert Eichmeier at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield. She was a member of Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield, where she served as ALCW President for two terms and Secretary of Education for five years, as well as Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher. Doris was also a choir member and delivered sermon tapes and Meals on Wheels to members of the congregation.
Doris worked at the Share Shop in Sheffield and was a member of the Wigwam ‘N Wagon Camping Club, You Go I Go Club and Card Club. She enjoyed baking, knitting, quilting and embroidery. Doris was an amazing cook, enjoyed attending County and State Fairs and 4th of July parties.
Doris is survived by her sons: Larry (Sue) Eichmeier, Ron (Jean) Eichmeier and Paul Eichmeier; grandchildren: Kristi (Shawn) Clark, Scott (Amanda) Eichmeier, April (Gerry) Zack and Zach (Alicia) Eichmeier; great-grandchildren: Haley Chizek, Keegan Clark, Zach Suby, Grant Clark; Preston, Boston and Easton Eichmeier; and Blake, Reid and Avery Eichmeier; great-great grandchildren Beau and Tate Chizek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Louis Eichmeier on August 24, 2016; and sisters Virginia Bonjour and Shirley Mease.
