PLYMOUTH – A Nora Springs man was rushed to Mercy Hospital after he rolled his Chevy Equinox several times, as police say no seatbelt was in use, but texting and alcohol were.

On March 22, 2024, at 10:24 PM, Cerro Gordo county deputies responded to 330th Street and College Drive in Plymouth for a single vehicle rollover. The driver, 35-year-old Jeremy Hummel of Nora Springs, was driving a 2012 Chevy Equinox east on 330th Street when he failed to navigate a curve. The Equinox rolled several times. Hummel was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol and use of electronic device are contributing factors to the crash. Hummel was transported by ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa with serious injuries.

The sheriff’s office says charges are pending following the completion of the investigation.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department and the Plymouth Fire Department.
