In a world where joy seemed to be in short supply, Cristal Sanchez was a radiant exception. Born on September 14, 2010, in Puebla, Mexico, she brought laughter and warmth wherever she went. The daughter of Martin Sanchez and Irene Nava, Cristal’s journey began amidst aromas of native cuisine, igniting a passion for food and cooking that would accompany her throughout life’s adventures.

From her earliest days in school in Puebla to her family’s move to Northwood, Cristal’s zest for life never waned. As a seventh-grader at Northwood-Kensett Middle School, she danced through life with her infectious smile and boundless energy.

Described as attentive and kind, Cristal’s love for conversation was legendary; she could talk for hours about anything and everything, her laughter ringing like music.

In the kitchen, Cristal enjoyed experimenting with flavors and techniques. Just this past weekend, she attempted crafting her own tortillas, tossing aside mishaps with a laugh and a smile. Her love for her Mexican heritage was evident in everything she did, from her exuberant personality to her unwavering support for the Club América football team.

Her passion for beauty was found in evening face masks with her mom and dad. Cristal radiated an inner glow that captivated all who knew her.

She dearly loved her cats and beloved dog, showering them endlessly with gifts and treats. Often her parents would come home to find a pile of furry creatures snuggled up with their daughter on the couch.

Though Cristal’s time with us was tragically short, her memory and spirit will continue to brighten our lives for years to come, like a flame to a dark room. Let us remember her with tears and laughter and joy, celebrating the vibrant spirit that she brought into the world.

Guiding her to Heaven are her maternal grandparents, Porfirio Nava and Pidad Favian; and paternal grandfather, Santiago Sanchez-Garcia.
