RURAL EMMET COUNTY – A rural Northern Iowa traffic stop led to a search warrant and the discovery of marijuana and mind-bending mushrooms inside a nearby house.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, a sheriff’s deputy on patrol in Wallingford observed a vehicle traveling south on highway 4 with expired registration at approximately 3:30pm on February 28th. A short time later the deputy then initiated a traffic stop on this vehicle in the 2500 block of highway 4.
Upon investigation into the traffic violation, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were discovered at the scene. Â As a result, the driver, 22-year-old Kenneth Burrow (pictured at top) of Estherville was placed under arrest and transported to the Emmet County Jail for booking.
Upon further investigation, a search warrant was issued and executed by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and Estherville Police Department this same day at Burrow’s residence at 303 South 7th Street in Estherville where more controlled substances and paraphernalia were discovered.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Burrow was charged with: Operation without registration, Failure to provide proof of financial security, Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana 1st offense), Possession of a controlled substance (psilocybin mushrooms 1st offense) and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
