Adeline (Pesik) Floy, 109, of Clear Lake and formerly of Thornton, passed away peacefully under the care of St. Croix Hospice at the Oakwood Care Center on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. A Rosary Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1001 Ninth Ave S, Clear Lake with visitation 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Father Josh Link officiating. A joyful reception lunch celebrating Adeline will be held after the service at the church. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton. Woodley Funeral Home of Thornton is caring for Adeline and her family.
Adeline was born on July 7, 1914, in Dilly, Wisconsin to Rudolph and Elizabeth Pesik and attended school in Dilly, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to Merlin Floy and then moved to his home town of Thornton, Iowa. She was a loving and nurturing farm wife and mother, in later years providing cleaning services and her favorite hobby of sewing for others. She and Merlin purchased a houseboat on Leech Lake, MN, where they vacationed with their children and friends for many years. She was an avid fisherwoman with a cane pole, once catching a 15 pound Muskie, and loved bowling into her 90’s!
Adeline was an active and volunteer member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Swaledale, Iowa and in her later years attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Clear Lake.
Adeline is survived by her five daughters: Rose Marie Wilson of Clear Lake; Betty (Denny) Meyer of Waverly; Arlene (Doug) Cahalan of Kansas City, Kansas; Diana (HT) Davidson of Clear Lake; Terri (Paul) Koenck of Polo, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Karen Floy of Clear Lake; sister, Margaret Paul of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many great and great-great step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Floy; son, Richard Floy; parents, Rudolph and Elizabeth Pesik; parents-in-law, Carl and Etta Floy; one grandson and one granddaughter; seven brothers; one sister and by four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of St. Croix Hospice and especially Oakwood Nursing Care Facility for their wonderful care of their mother. Any memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice, Oakwood Care Center, or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
