Man viciously attacked by large pit bull in Mason City

MASON CITY – A man was viciously attacked in his front yard by a large pit bull Saturday morning in Mason City.

Mason City police say that on June 15, 2019, at about 5 AM, the Mason City Police Department received a report a dog attack, a resident in the 1400 block of North Carolina Place reported he was attacked in his front yard. The victim was bitten multiple times and required immediate medical attention for his injuries. The attacking dog was described as a very large Pitbull Terrier style dog being primarily charcoal gray (blue) in color, having white fur on the back part of the head which transitioned down the side of its face to the chest and having white legs. The victim told police he had never seen the dog in the neighborhood before and was uncertain who the owner was. The police department is asking for assistance in trying to locate the dog and owner.

At 10:48 AM, the Mason City Police Department were dispatched to the area of 14th and North Hampshire Avenue on a citizens report that they had confined the pitbull dog that we were looking for on a vicious dog bite that was reported earlier in the day. The dog was positively identified by the victim of the attack and transported to the kennel.

No further information was immediately available on this case.
