Norma R. Whitehurst, 68, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at the Hancock County Health System, Britt, Iowa.
Family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Norma was born on May 25, 1955, the daughter of John and Vera Mae (Brown) Hopkins of Rolfe, Iowa. She grew up in Pocahontas County with eight siblings. Over the years she worked numerous jobs, and she carried her hard work ethic throughout her entire life.
She was known for her simplicity, great cooking skills and big heart. Her grandchildren will especially miss her homemade chicken noodle soup and Salisbury steak. In her free time she enjoyed cross stitching, cleaning the house, gardening, canning vegetables and fishing. Along with her love for gardening vegetables she loved flowers, especially roses. To Norma her family and pets were most important, she cherished every moment she got to be with them.
Those left to cherish memories of Norma are her husband of 34 years, Doug Whitehurst; son, James (Andrea) Turnbull; grandchildren, Cole (Mary) Turnbull, Mikayla (Taylor) Timmerman; great grandchildren, Charley and Oliver Turnbull, Jameson and Jonathan Timmerman; sisters, Joyce Stewart, Maxine Hegeholtz, and Erma (Harlan) Lund; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Laura Pepper, Mary Hartley, Wayne Hopkins, Virginia Watson, and Glenda Burns.
