Dean F. Johnson, 87, of Osage (Meroa), IA passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at his home. Dean served in the United States Air Force, from 1957 to 1960.

Dean F. Johnson, 87, of Osage (Meroa), IA passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at his home.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, IA from 4 to 6 pm with funeral services on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 10:30 am with inurnment at the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Dean was born in Osage, Iowa on October 23, 1935 to Herbert and Frances (Schmidt) Johnson. He attended Cedar #7 school in Meroa, Rudd, and graduated from Osage High School in 1954. Dean served in the United States Air Force, from 1957 to 1960. He and his wife, Mary (Collins) had two children, David and Helen. Mary passed away in 2004 and he had deeply missed her ever since.

Dean farmed his whole life. He was a life-time member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council and Brotherhood. Dean was a founding member of the Stoney Creek Gentlemen’s Club. He loved to play cards and cribbage, watch Twins, Vikings, and Hawkeye games, watch the crops grow and sitting outside visiting with friends. He loved, and was so proud of, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Helen Burrington and her husband Ken; grandchildren, Adrian (Mike) Warnke, Lucas (Alexis) Burrington, Eric Johnson, Zachary (Amanda) Donaghy, Jacob (Becki) Donaghy, Laurel Burrington, and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Muriel Johnson, Grace Johnson and Michele Guldberg, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Johnson; son, David Johnson; brothers, Marvin, Norbert and Merrill Johnson.

went out to Troika for years, Mary was the deaf waitress there, never met Dean but with mary talking about him all the time, seemed like i knew him.
