WATERLOO – An armed woman at a Waterloo gym prompted a police response after she threatened herself.
On Thursday May 19, 2022 at about 12:55 PM, Waterloo patrol officers responded to Planet Fitness, located at 2060 E. Ridgeway, on a report an ex-employee with a handgun. Consolidated dispatch advised officers that a female inside had a gun and was threatening to take her life. Patrol officers, detectives, and Waterloo Fire Rescue arrived on scene and within minutes, were able to take the female into custody. The female transported by ambulance to Mercy One.
The handgun was later determined to be a BB handgun replica.
