RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – Three children were hurt Friday when a UTV operated by one of the youngsters rolled into a ditch.

The accident took place Friday afternoon, June 25, 2021. At about 1:18 PM, Cerro Gordo county deputies responded to a UTV accident on 150th Street near Vine Avenue. A 2013 Polaris Ranger driven by 15-year-old Jayce Weiner of Rockwell was westbound on 150th Street when he lost control of the UTV causing it to leave the roadway and overturn in the south ditch.

As a result of the accident, Weiner and two occupants on the UTV – 15-year-old Vincent Joslin of Charles City and 11-year-old Tess Weiner of Rockwell – were taken to Mercy One in Mason City by private vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
