MASON CITY – A Mason City woman died in her mobile home this week after a fire caused by smoking materials.
The Mason City Fire Department responded to 777 S. Eisenhower #57 at 8:53 pm on February 22,2021 for the report of a house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a structure that was heavily involved in fire. Firefighters located one occupant, 60-year-old Rhonda “DeeAnn” Lloyd, who had succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire.
Fire crews remained on scene with Mason City Police Department officers until 1:47 am for fire investigation.
Fire and Police investigators have determined the cause of the fire appears to be smoking material.
