Northern Iowa man jailed for witness tampering

A Northern Iowa man ignored a protection order and allegedly tampered with a witness, landing him in jail.

FAYETTE, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man ignored a protection order and allegedly tampered with a witness, landing him in jail.

On May 18, 2025, at approximately 9:30 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a violation of a no-contact order. During an investigation, a search warrant was applied for, granted, and executed at 200 Bolger Drive in Fayette, Iowa. Upon execution, Jonathan M Lugg, 27 of Fayette IA, was found and arrested. Lugg was charged with:

– Tampering With a Witness, an aggravated misdemeanor

– 3 counts of Violation of a No-Contact Order, all simple misdemeanors

Lugg (pictured at top) was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he is being held until initial appearance.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fayette Police Department.
