Eldery woman struck by car in rural Northern Iowa town

CALMAR, IOWA – An eldery woman was struck by a car in a rural Northern Iowa town this weekend.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says that on Saturday afternoon, September 5 at about 12:55 PM, an elderly woman was struck by a car in Calmar, Iowa. Violet Krivacek, age 85, was driving a 2004 Buick Century, traveling south on Maryville Street in Calmar when she struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street. Police did not name the victim, but indicated she was 83-years-old and from Calmar. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance and later transported by helicopter to Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

This accident remains under investigation.
