
CLEAR LAKE – Detonated fireworks destroyed a Clear Lake garage today, the fire department there says.
The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire this afternoon at 10405 220th Street rural Clear Lake at 1:49 PM.
Clear Lake Fire Department responded with 3 pumper-tankers, 12 firefighters, an ambulance with 2 medics. Ventura Fire Department was dispatched as part of an automatic mutual aid agreement and responded with 1 pumper-tanker and 5 firefighters. Upon arrival, a non-attached garage was fully involved in fire with exposures on 2 sides of the building of origin. The fire was extinguished by members of both departments. The homeowners’ house received heat damage to the exterior siding while the other exposure building did not sustain any damage. The building of origin was destroyed. The property is owned by Christopher Doane and is covered by insurance. Damage is estimated at $25,000 to the building and $10,000 to the contents.
Cause of the fire was determined to be from detonated fireworks into the building. There were no injuries.

with all the firework displays falling down on peoples houses, its a wonder more fires didn’t happen.
