RURAL LINN COUNTY, IOWA – This Iowa man failed to complete his drunk driving class, and when cops zeroed in, he floored his Chevy Cruze in the desperate hope that freedom could be maintained, only to find out that fate would not be kind.
On April 8, 2025, at approximately 3:27 PM, a Linn county deputy observed a grey Chevy Cruz at approximately 100 MPH westbound on Highway 100 near Covington Road. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop of the vehicle near E Ave. and the driver refused to stop proceeding from E Ave. to Burger Ln. and into a farm field west of Burger Ln. The deputy, along with a State Trooper continued the pursuit and the driver of the Chevy Cruz failed to negotiate a fence line between two fields crashing into the neighboring field. The driver, 26-year-old Landon Larson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was unhurt and surrendered to the deputy immediately. There were no other occupants in the car.
The car caught fire shortly thereafter due to the damage. Fairfax and Atkins Fire responded to extinguish the fire.
Landon Larson was taken to the Linn County Correctional Center where he is being held on the following charges:
– Attempting to Elude
– Multiple traffic charges
– Mittimus for Failure to File completion of an OWI weekend program
