One person airlifted to hospital after auto accident in Palo Alto county

RURAL PALO ALTO COUNTY – One person was airlifted to a hospital after an auto accident in Palo Alto county this week.

On May 12, 2020 at 5:48 AM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 4900 block of 370th St., Emmetsburg, Iowa for a two-vehicle injury accident. A 2013 Freightliner box truck was west bound when it crossed the center line and collided with an east bound 2017 Toyota Camry. The driver of the Toyota was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital, and then to Avera Mckennan Hospital by air ambulance with an unknown extent of injuries. The driver of the Freightliner reported no injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner was cited for driving on the wrong side of the roadway. This accident remains under investigation and additional charges may be pending.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Emmetsburg Police Department, Emmetsburg Fire Department, the Palo Alto County Ambulance Service, and the Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division.
