NIACC cross country teams return to action Friday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The NIACC men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action Friday at the Augustana College Twilight Invitational at Yankton Trail Park.

The women’s 5K race starts at 8:30 p.m. and the men’s 4-mile race begins at 9 p.m.

The NIACC men’s placed second at the NJCAA Region XI time trial last Saturday with 51 points. NIACC was led by freshman Brian Jacques, who was third in the five-kilometer race in 15 minutes, 50.73 seconds. Jacques’ time is the third-fastest 5K time in school history.
Also placing in the top 15 for the Trojans were Blake Keller (7th in 16:07.38), John Kraft (8th in 16:10.65) and Samuel Dean (14th in 16:35.21). The Trojans’ fifth counting score was Jacob Hansen, who was 19th in 16:43.70.
The NIACC women placed fourth with 91 points. The Lady Trojans were led by Amy Fullerton, who was 16th in a time of 22:09.51.

Also for the NIACC women, Julia Dunlavey was 18th in 22:27.22, Rebekah Larson was 24th in 23:15.14, Ally Trager was 29th in 23:42.03, Allison Steahr was 31st in 24:39.31 and Tiffany Meyer was 34th in 27:10.18.

Last season at the Augustana Twilight meet, the NIACC men were eighth in the college division with 259 points. Wal Khat led the Trojans with a second-place finish in 18:58.

The NIACC women 19th in the college division with 557 points. Kendra Schmidt led the Lady Trojans with a 105th place finish in 19:14 in the then 3-mile race.
