MASON CITY – A Mason City man arrested after his second domestic incident this year faced a felony but pled guilty to a lesser charge.

Mason City police were called to a domestic incident on August 9, 2016. After an investigation, they arrested Kodie Dean Gallagher, age 25, of Mason City on charges of domestic abuse assault, domestic abuse assault involving strangulation (a felony) and child endangerment.

In November, Gallagher entered a guilty plea to only first-offense domestic abuse assault as the other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to 365 days in hail with all but 2 days suspended. He must serve 2 years of probation and pay $851.75 in fines and court fees.

Court records show Gallagher was arrested in February of 2016 in Hancock county for domestic abuse assault and several other charges. However, he was able to work a plea deal to only assault. He was sentenced to 2 days in jail and $345.00 in fines and court fees.
