Letter to the Editor:

I would like to take a moment to encourage the citizens of Mason City to take the time to vote on December 6, 2016.

The City of Mason City deserves to have on our council, elected officials that have integrity, a sense of business, civic duty, and above all, the where with all to listen, make sound decisions, and have a clear vision for the future of Mason City.

I will be voting for Paul Adams. If these are the qualities that you also want in our leadership for the City of Mason City, I would encourage you to vote for Paul Adams.

Thank You

Jodi Draper
Mason City, Iowa

Publisher’s note: Paul Adams’ opponent is Andrew O’Brien.

  1. After speaking to several people this weekend I have decided to support Paul Adams for city council. He seems to be a decent young man who will listen to everyone. It is very important that people get out to vote. If they let apathy set in he will lose. This is a bad time to have a election when people are busy getting ready for the holiday. Please take the time and go vote.

  2. Voter turn out is key. Don’t let a measly 5% of the city pick our councilman. Obrien is just another puppet, doing what he is told by Eric and Robin. What ever the question, Obrien is not the answer.

    1. I like and respect Jodi and have supported her because of her honesty and the way she always takes the high road. I have even asked her to consider running for council again and would be one of her supporters again. However, just because she likes a candidate (I am sure she was a Clinton supporter) does not automatically mean I will vote for the person she supports. At this point I am not sure who I would vote for. I was a Weaver supporter, and was not overly impressed with other candidates. Calling names and throwing insults drives people away.

      1. I also have expressed to Jodi to please consider a run again. With that said Our candidates are Adams and Obrien. I will vote for Adams. I was a Max supporter. Obrien did not show up for the questions from the public. Adams did. I want a person who will talk to me once elected, not just a few months before election. Obrien did not come to talk in trying to get elected. So I seriously doubt that behavior will change.

        1. Are you referring to the public question session put on by Marquart? I would not have gone as a candidate either considering who was putting it on. If you are basing your vote on participation
in that event then you don’t really know the candidates.
Further, since you were a Max supporter, the ostrich coalition, and now switching to Adams that tells me O’Brien will likely win.

          1. If you think that O’Brien will win, you are delusional.
In the primary he received all of the votes that he will likely get whereas Adams will pick up the vast majority of the other candidates voters.

          2. Unfortunately, I do think O’Brien will win because I think the chamber will get out the vote and Adams won’t. This was a nice try by Jodi and I hope she was right but I don’t think most of the voters care enough to go out in cold weather and vote. I don’t really care myself. If Weaver had been the candidate or Jodi I think they might have had a chance. But not Adams. He won his ward but that is not enough and he is not known in other areas. This council will still be controlled by the Erik the Great and until he is gone it won’t change.

  3. Paul Adams has my vote.
Sharp young guy with well grounded integrity.

Compared to that Chamber of Commerce lackey & minion, Andy O’Brien, this is a no-brainer folks.

      1. If you “arare” going to base your you vote on one person’s comment, you “arare” a tool.
And a not too sharp of one at that.

      1. If you did even a little research you will find that Andy O’Brien is indeed “tied at the hip” to the CoC.
He is a member and has given numerous workshops as an Action Coach(aka motivational speaker) and he was tied in heavily with that CoC private meeting after the Prestage vote was shot down.

Oh yes, he is a staunch Chamber of Commerce supporter & minion.
