Mason City man pleads guilty to two drunk driving charges

MASON CITY – A Mason City man caught twice late last year by Mason City police for drunk driving has pleaded guilty to both charges.

Donald Ralph Meade, age 46 was caught by Mason City police for drunk driving on September 28, 2014. Meade was caught again for drunk driving by Mason City police early on the morning of November 21, 2014. In that incident, according to police, at approximately 1:49 AM that morning, an officer witnessed a truck swerving or weaving near 16th and North Delaware. The driver spun or squealed his tires before pulling into a driveway in the 1600 block of North Delaware. The driver then attempted to run from the truck into a residence but was stopped by the officer. Meade (the driver) was soon arrested and police charged him with operating while under the influence, careless driving, interference with official acts, driving with a revoked license and harassment in the second degree.

As part of his plea deal, Meade pleaded guilty to two counts of first offense operating while under the influence. Charges of interference with official acts, driving with a revoked license and harassment in the second degree were dismissed. He was given two years in jail with all but 14 days suspended, and ordered to pay $1972.50 and $2209.05 in fines and court fees.

Meade also pleaded guilty in January to driving with a suspended license as his drunk driving charges were adjudicated. He was ordered to pay $476.30 in fines and court fees.
