Minnesotans caught with drugs as they traveled through Cerro Gordo county

MASON CITY – Two Minnesota residents were caught with drugs as they traveled through Cerro Gordo county early Tuesday.

The Iowa State Patrol conducted a traffic stop at the 187 mile marker of Interstate 35 Tuesday morning at about 2:18 AM. A Cerro Gordo deputy was called in to assist. At the scene, two Minnesota residents were inside the stopped vehicle. An investigation uncovered controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Both occupants in the car were arrested. Roman De La Fuente, age 22 of Red Wing, Minnesota, was charged with drug possession, speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia. Karissa Rose Martinez, age 20 of Welch, Minnesota, was charged with drug possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
