MASON CITY – The Hospitality Committee for RAGBRAI Mason City will be implementing their first City Beautification Project this Wednesday, June 18, at Central Park.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer and help in the initial stages in preparing the area for this summer’s activities are asked to wear their Hump Day t-shirt, bring gardening tools and join organizers at 4:30 PM.
RAGBRAI bikes riders will arrive in Mason City on July 23. The festivities will culminate in Central Park with a performance by for Poison frontman Brett Michaels. The event last came to Mason City in 1985.

I would love to help out with some of the cities functions but as long as BOOKMEYER and some of his puppets are at the controls this city can kiss my backside. The mayor and his puppets look down on all of us and they truly believe we are so stupid we will do anything except vote. Piss on them. I could care less if the city is dirty when ragbrai comes in, it will show them what MC is really like. FTMAHP
it seems a lot of people think this whole thing is a “city” or “council” initiative..that’s kinda funny, you really think they’re the ones behind this…?!! no…they don’t have the manpower or the insightfulness…it’s volunteers from across the community…don’t bash on them for trying to make this a fun event for everyone…and from what I’ve heard there’s no “puppet mastery” going on either..cuz I know that’s what’s comin’ next.
Better get the town all “phoney’d up” so people will thing what a squeaky clean image it has.

They want people to donate their own free time to fix up what amounts to the front yard for the rich and elite? The arrogance of these folks knows no boundaries. They can stick this idea in their ‘hump’ no pun intended.
Why would anyone want to volunteer for this city anymore especially after being lied to all these years! Get your fat asses off your ‘Thrones’ and do it yourselves baggers!
Get City hall out there to guard the guys in jail and have them do it, make those guys work for their stay in the clink. Hell maybe some of them might like it and get a job with a local landscape co.
