MASON CITY – The NIACC wrestling team claimed three individual titles at the seventh annual Kaye Young Open Saturday at the NIACC Recreation Center.
Winning titles for the Trojans were freshman Nosomy Pozo (Miami, Fla.) at 149 pounds, freshman Yoanse Mejias (Miami, Fla.) at 157 pounds and sophomore Shakheim Chapman (Gumee, Ill.) at 285 pounds.
The three NIACC champions Saturday became the fifth, sixth and seventh Trojan wrestlers to claim Kaye Young Open titles.
NIACC also received a second-place finish from sophomore Blake Spotts (Nora Springs, Ia.).
Also for NIACC, freshman Andy Glaser (Ionia, Ia.) was third at 184 pounds, freshman Tristin Luther (Verona, Wis.) was fourth at 165 pounds, sophomore Thomas Daniels (Stockbridge, Ga.) was fourth at 174 pounds and freshman Michael Ruffino (Columbia, Conn.) was fifth at 125 pounds.
The NIACC wrestling team returns to action Nov. 16 at the Luther College Open in Decorah, Ia.
