logo-iowa-state-patrolHAMPTON – An elderly Hampton man is dead after his car went through an intersection and crashed into a creek bed late last week.

According to a report, 70 year-old Keith Studer was driving his 2001 GMC Sierra pickup eastbound on County Road C23 on Thursday evening, October 10th, when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 65. The vehicle went through the intersection and came to rest in the northbound ditch of Highway 65 in a creek bed.

Studer was not wearing a seatbelt, the report stated, and it is not known if alcohol played a part in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Hampton authorities at the scene.
