Toby Keith, Garth Brooks and others to be in Moore, Okla., benefit

NORMAN, Okla., June 14 (UPI) — Country singer-songwriter Toby Keith announced Thursday he is holding a benefit concert for his hometown, tornado-ravaged Moore, Okla.

The lineup for the July 6 gala includes Garth Brooks and his wife, Tricia Yearwood, Willie Nelson and Ronnie Dunn, the Tulsa World reported. The concert is to be held at the Gaylord Family Stadium at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, which seats about 80,000 people.

Profits from the concert will go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund, Keith said in a release.

“I grew up in Moore, I live in Norman and I’ve got lots of family and friends who were directly affected,” Keith said.

Keith said his mother and sister still live in Moore.

Brooks also lives in Oklahoma, near Owasso.

“Once we got the news that the tornado had hit Toby’s hometown, Miss Yearwood and I told Toby we were at his service for whatever he chose to do,” Brooks said.

Tickets are $25 each and will be available on Ticketmaster staring June 21.
