MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore pitcher Joey Reed committed Thursday to play baseball next season at Minnesota State in Mankato, Minn.
Reed (Lindstrom, Minn.) was 3-5 with a 3.12 earned run average with 29 strikeouts and 14 walks in 49 innings pitched during his sophomore season. Reed started NIACC’s fourth game at the NJCAA Division II World Series against Murray State but left in the fourth inning with a shoulder injury.
Reed is tied for seventh on NIACC’s all-time win list with 9. He ranks seventh with 74 career strikeouts and third with 111 1/3 innings pitched.
Reed will join NIACC teammate Max Waletich at Minnesota State. Waletich signed with the NCAA Division II Mavericks in November.
