CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – April 1, 2013 – Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, encourages Iowa customers who are not current on their utility bills to take action now. Customers can pay their bills using automated services over the phone or online, and can talk to a customer service representative by calling 1-800-ALLIANT (800-255-4268).

If customers make no attempt to pay their bills and do not attempt to set up a payment plan, they may be subject to disconnection after April 1.

“We know our customers rely on our services for comfort, security and productivity, and we want to work with those who have fallen behind on their payments,” said Tim Heinrich, director – customer support services.  “It’s important for customers to contact us so we can review their options and keep them connected.”

  1. I can’t tell you how many people do not pay there bill between Oct. to March knowing they are not going to be shut off. When April comes around they are crying and begging for money to pay the bill. I am not heartless just a little wiser than some. If you continue to pay your bill in the winter you won’t have this problem. I was on assistance for over 5 years and not one time did I have to worry about paying my bill come April. If they can pay it in the summer they can pay it in the winter. They have budget plans for a reason.
