MASON CITY, IOWA – North Central Iowa High School basketball players are participating in the Iowa Hall of Pride’s community service initiative, the “Iowa Hall of Pride Challenge.” The Mason City Mohawk Girls basketball team will play the Garner -Hayfield- Ventura Cardinals in a “Pride Scrimmage” on November 16 at the Mason City High School Gym.

As part of the Pride Challenge, the schools have identified a community service project that is meaningful for their school and community. This year, the basketball players from both teams will volunteer with United Way of North Central Iowa. In addition to the community service project, all proceeds from the game will be donated to United Way to improve north central Iowa communities.

The freshman team will start at 4:45 p.m. with the JV and Varsity teams to follow. Tickets will be sold at the door, $5 per adult, or $3 per student.

United Way is looking for community members to volunteer during the basketball scrimmage. If you would like to help in the concession stand, taking tickets, selling t-shirts, etc. – please contact Drew Norton at cm@unitedwaynci.org or call 641-423-1774. Multiple volunteer shifts are available.
