Earlier this week, bell ringers were outside Wal-Mart trying to raise money for the North Iowa Youth Center.
“Out ringing the bells for Christmas giving. Giving is better than receiving,” Youth Center Director Regan Banks said. Banks was wearing a yellow Santa hat and a smile for the people.
Youth people don’t just enjoy the Youth Center, they get out there and help raise money to keep it going. Youngsters Dean Johnson and Angel Mitchell were two of them out there in the cold raising funds for the center.
“Christmas is not about presents, stockings, candy canes or Santa Claus, it’s about the birth of Jesus,” Dean said.
There seemed to be a lot of people giving.
“Every little bit helps,” said Ellen Meier.
