MASON CITY – A car with two occupants crashed into a house early Tuesday morning in Mason City.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., a car with two minors was being chased by the Mason City police at speeds reaching above 90 mph. The car crashed into the house located at 1003 North Jackson Ave. The names of the minors are being left out of the story.
It was said by those at the scene that one person was reluctant to exit the vehicle and the police drew their weapons. Alcohol may have been involved in the incident as well.
The owner of the house that sustained damage, Tim Clausen, was forced to climb out his bedroom window.
A neighbor told NorthIowaToday.com that “I heard a loud crash, first I had thought that someone hit my car. Looked out the window to see a cop car 2 houses down. Went outside with my camera to find a car had driven completely into my neighbors house. Nobody had seen the accident happen, just heard a loud crash.”
Another bystander said that he saw the SUV fleeing down 10th street with the cop close behind, had seen them turn but did not see the collision.
No one was injured in the accident.
