Daniel “Dan” Raymond Meek, age 80, of Osage, died Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

A funeral Mass for Dan Meek will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Roseville with Monsignor Walter Brunkan celebrating the Mass. Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Roseville.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Saturday.

Daniel Raymond Meek, the son of George and Ella (Marzen) Meek, was born February 1, 1937, in rural Marble Rock. He attended school in Roseville and Marble Rock, where he graduated in 1954. Dan helped on the family farm until after graduation, when he was drafted into the United States Army and served our country. After his honorable discharge, Dan began working at Oliver/White Farm in Charles City for 15 years. He was united in marriage to Doris Franzen and the couple was married for 25 years.

Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins play, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dan is survived by his children: Kurt J. Meek of Clear Lake, Kimberly M. Brekken (Michael) of Scarville, Daniel L. Meek (Courtney) of Fredricka, Tony Meek (Lynne) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Karla Meek of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Mark Meek (Tina) of Keokuk and Dawn Grosskreutz (Colin) of Keller, Texas; siblings: Eileen Dyke of Rochester, Minnesota, David Meek (Rose) of Marble Rock; grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Aloysius “Al”, Raymond, Robert, June, Kenneth, Charles, Eugene, Theresa, Gladys and Katherine; and a granddaughter, Brianna.
