Minneapolis police significantly increase uniformed presence at Pride festivities

MinneapolisMINNEAPOLIS – The Minneapolis Police Department has a proud history of ensuring safe and successful Twin Cities Pride events. This year, in direct response to incidents in other areas of the country, the MPD will significantly increase its resources to ensure that track record continues.

“You will see a noticeable and visible increase of uniformed officers throughout the weekend at Twin Cities Pride. In addition, our Mounted Patrol, K-9 Units and Bicycle Rapid Response Team (BRRT) will be working throughout the area. We are also working closely with Park Police, Metro Transit Police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department. This level of presence is unprecedented as we want to address the safety concerns we’ve heard about from our community. We want to ensure everyone feels, and is, safe,” Chief Janeé Harteau said.

The MPD encourages anyone who sees something suspicious or out of the ordinary to immediately call police or find an officer nearby and report what they’ve noticed.
