Learn call-blocking techniques in workshop from FCC

cell-phoneWASHINGTON, D.C. – Tired of unwanted calls? The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) is offering a free workshop you can attend online to learn techniques to block these unwanted calls.

The FCC said today it is continuing its work helping consumers fight unwanted robocalls with a workshop that will examine the current state of robocall-blocking solutions, the steps industry is taking to protect consumers from unwanted robocalls, and potential solutions to caller ID spoofing.

The workshop is an all-day event with panelists representing service providers, developers of call-blocking solutions, consumer groups and others. The workshop will be streamed live on the Commission’s website. The full agenda will be available prior to the event.

The FCC recently clarified that there are no legal barriers preventing carriers from offering consumers robocall-blocking technologies. The Commission also expressed an expectation that as a result of this clarification of its rules consumers will “benefit from improved call-blocking options.”

Open captioning will be provided for this event, located here: https://www.fcc.gov/live. Check the site for the time the event starts and an agenda.
