MASON CITY – A man caught seemingly red-handed last month inside the Sears Department Store, allegedly looking to commit a burglary, has pleaded not guilty and has a trial date set.

Daniel Harold Rish, age 22 of Mason City, stands accused of felony third degree burglary and possession of marijuana. Mason City police responded to an alarm at Sears, 1720 South Federal Avenue, on June 14th at about 2:26 AM. When officers arrived, they found an open door while checking the building. They soon discovered Rish inside the building. He was placed under arrest without incident and charged.

A jury trial date of October 7th has been set, and Rish pled not guilty. A possible plea deal could be reached at a preliminary hearing set for September 26th.
