OTTUMWA, IA – At approximately 1:21 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2014, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a shooting at 4367 91st Ave., which is approximately 4 miles southwest of Ottumwa. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an unresponsive male. The man has been identified as Clinton Gus Leedom, age 49, of 11202 Nichol Ave., Bloomfield, Iowa. Clinton Leedom was found to have suffered a gunshot wound.
The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab Team.
Mr. Leedom’s body has been transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa. An autopsy will be performed Tuesday morning.
Officials emphasize that this appears to be an isolated incident and no future danger appears to be imminent.
