MASON CITY – Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s deputies were at Walgreen’s pharmacy in Mason City Saturday picking up unused prescription drugs from the public.
The deputies worked until 2 PM but did mention that prescriptions could be taken and left at the Walgreen’s pharmacy on Sunday.
“They do not recommend flushing them (prescriptions) anymore doe to the pollution” into the water system, a deputy told NIT Saturday. “They are promptly disposed of once we take possession of them.”
One prescription the officer pointed out that he had collected was from 1999.
The officers were also handing out free water provided by Walgreen’s.
