Police evacuated a Holiday gas station after receiving a call about an emotionally disturbed man in North St. Paul on Monday, Sept. 17
At about 8:59 p.m., police responded to a call at 2255 E. South Ave. Police located a hand grenade in the suspect’s vehicle, said Capt. Dustin Nikituk. The evacuation lasted past midnight, Nikituk said.
The suspect has had a history of making “improvised explosive devices,” Nikituk said. The week before, a SWAT team was called because he barricaded himself in his residence, Nikituk said. Nikituk believes the suspect chose the gas station because it was close to his house.
The suspect was taken to Regions Hospital for evaluation.
