BRITT, Iowa ñ Aug. 4, 2011 ñ Road construction work on Iowa 9 between U.S. 69 near Forest City and Mitchell County Road S-70 east of Manly will restrict traffic to one lane beginning Monday, Aug. 8, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Britt construction office.
Motorists will be assisted through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. In addition, a 14-foot width lane restriction is in effect in the open lane. Traffic will be returned to normal patterns when workers are not present. This project is expected to be completed by Aug. 22.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.|
