
RUTHVEN, IOWA — A Tuesday morning collision between a sedan and a semi-truck has claimed the life of a Northern Iowa woman.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that 69-year-old Mone Keoninh died from her injuries following a two-vehicle crash on March 24 at the intersection of M-50 and 340th Street.
According to the crash report, Keoninh was traveling northbound on M-50 in a 2014 Toyota Camry shortly before 9:45 a.m. The investigation indicates that Keoninh attempted to make a left turn, pulling directly into the path of a southbound 2000 Peterbilt 379 semi-truck.
The driver of the semi, 42-year-old Kevin Hofman of Sanborn, Iowa, was uninjured in the collision. The truck is owned by Hofman Brothers Enterprises LLC.
Keoninh was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the impact. She was rushed by Spencer Ambulance to Spencer Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Spencer Fire, and Spencer Ambulance. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Ewalt.
