Collin R. Whitney, 68, of Winthrop, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, March 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial: 4:00 P.M., Monday, March 30, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Winthrop with Reverend David Beckman officiating.
Interment: St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Winthrop.
Celebration of Life: Following the graveside at Wolfey’s Wapsi Outback in Quasqueton, Iowa.
Collin Robert Whitney was born July 7, 1957, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Robert “Bob” Leroy and Shirley Anne (Burns) Whitney. He graduated from East Buchanan High School with the class of 1975. On September 3, 1977, Collin was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Hoefer at Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville, Iowa. He worked for Brecke Mechanical for many years before transferring to Cedar Rapids Winpump working as an outside sales representative. Collin was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Winthrop. He enjoyed boating, golfing, cherishing his grandchildren, and spending time with family.
Collin is survived by his wife: Joyce Whitney of Winthrop; 2 sons: Dylan (Mollie) Whitney of Urbandale and Mitchell (Chelsey) Whitney of Marion; 4 grandchildren: Knox, Lola, Remington, and Elle; 4 Siblings: Linda (Terry) Peterson of Winthrop, Tim (Jenny) Whitney of Des Moines, Maria (Tom) Ball of Farmingdale, New York and Terry (Janet) Whitney of Cedar Rapids; 3 Brothers-in-law: Larry (Sherry) Hoefer of Edgewood, Dave (Michelle) Hoefer of Masonville, and Ron (Sue) Hoefer of Masonville; 3 Sisters-in-law: Shirley (Ken) Knipper of Petersburg, Janet Hoefer of Quasqueton, and Carol (Jeff) Harper of Manchester, and many nieces and nephews.
Collin is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Tom, Ted, and an infant brother; in-laws: Gerald and Verna Hoefer; brother-in-law: Dennis “Seymour” Hoefer; and great niece: Shelby Kearns.
