John Charles Calvert, 78, of Mason City, IA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with a half-hour prior visitation at Good Shepherd Health Center, 302 Second St NE, Mason City, IA. Pastor Kent Mechler will be officiating. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Elmwood-St Joseph Cemetery.
John was born on December 25, 1946, in Rock Falls, IA to Leonard and Blanch Calvert. He was drafted into the United States Army right after high school and served during Vietnam until he was honorably discharged. John was a proud veteran. On July 27, 1973, John was united in marriage to Sandra and to their union, two daughters were born. John worked for IMI Cornelius, previously known as David’s Manufacturing as a welder for 25 years until retirement. John loved his dogs and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra Calvert of Mason City; daughters, Mindy (Rick) Ford of Iowa Falls and Misty (Mike) Rottinghaus of Mason City; grandchildren: Rj Ford, Allie Ford and Caden Rottinghaus; sisters-in-law, Sue Halterman, Judy Calvert, Faye (Carl) Perry, Lorri Hamm and Mary Robinette; brothers-in-law, Terry (Sharon) Hamm and Randy (Jo) Hamm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; three brothers: Ron, Jerry and Rick Calvert; sister, Sharon Manning and nephew, Mike Manning.
