September 18, 1943 – October 23, 2025

Beverly June Patrick, 82, of West Union, Iowa, passed away on October 23, 2025, at Copper Creek following a lengthy illness with heart disease. Though her family was not able to be at her side, she passed peacefully and surrounded by the love that carried her through her life.

Born on September 18, 1943, in rural Solano County, California, Beverly was the daughter of Woodrow Wilson and Mary Ellen (Hicks) Lucas. During her childhood, her family moved to Raymond, Washington, and later to the Seattle area, where she met and married Donald LaVere Patrick. The couple made their home in Iowa, where they raised three daughters — Mary, Donna, and Lynnette. Donald and Beverly later divorced.

Beverly spent her life caring for her family and home. She was a talented seamstress, lovingly sewing outfits for her girls, and a gifted cook known for creating frugal yet delicious meals from the bounty of her garden. Her cooking talents also led her to work at The Country Porch and in the pizza department at Gas N Goods, where she enjoyed sharing her skill with others.

Her love for horses, crafting, painting, and especially gardening filled her days with joy and color. Affectionately known as “the crazy plant lady,” Beverly found beauty in the simple things and shared that love generously with those around her.

She is survived by her daughters Mary (Dan) Schultz, Donna (Ernie) Alley, and Lynnette (Kyle) Henry; grandchildren Darrick (Destiny Gordon), Darren (LaCreasha), and Deven Schultz; Ramsey and Cody Alley; Owen, Joel (Mary), Nicole, Beau (Lydia), and Madison Henry; and many great-grandchildren including Kiah, Keagan, Jaxon, Theodore, Oliver, Dawson, Deakon, Emma, Gracie, Isabelle, Greyson, Bowen, Kaiden, Benton, Gavin, Garret, Gracelyn, Gatlin, and Delilah; sisters Norma (Jean) and Audrey.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Elva Christensen and Betty Bugh; brother Gary Lucas; and great-granddaughter Raelyn Schultz.

Private family services held on Sunday, October 26, at the Hawkeye Community Hall.
